Woodcut Prints:
‘Women’ Collection

2018 - Present — Toronto

Independent Project

I have created The Women Collection to celebrate women, their beauty, resilience, and power. The collection showcases eight unique women figures using the ancient Japanese relief printmaking technique. The original drawings were made in figure drawing sessions, and I have stayed loyal to their imperfections. I start my work by transfering the drawings onto wood blocks, then start carving. Once the design is carved on the wood, I use oil based black ink to cover the board with ink rollers then use the board as a stamp on high quality Japanese papers to create multiple prints.

My mother and I collaborated to create a bag collection from the artwork and launched it on Women’s Day in 2022. All profits from the sales were donated to a women’s shelter in Turkey.
